Minnesota Unemployment Eligibility
You have to meet certain requirements for Minnesota unemployment eligibility such as being unemployed or having reduced work hours. You also need to be a United States citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States. Wages in your base period should be at least $1,000 paid in one calendar quarter, and a sum of at least $250 wages paid in the other three quarters combined. It’s important that you’re available for work and accept work as soon as you receive an offer of employment. You need to be physically and mentally able to work at a job.
If you’re receiving benefits based on full-time work, then you’ll need to look for full-time work. It doesn’t matter if your account is based on full-time or part-time work; you’ll be ineligible if you refuse suitable full-time work. To qualify for Minnesota unemployment eligibility, you have to accept employment for all shifts and days for your particular occupation. You also have to accept the pay rate that the majority of employees in your area pay for your type of occupation. Another requirement is you need to have transportation, a personal vehicle, public transit, car pool, or have other arrangements to make sure you can get to work.

Minnesota employment eligibility isn’t for high school (secondary) students. You won’t be eligible for any unemployment benefits if you’re in school or on a school break. If you’re out of high school, you might be eligible to receive benefits. These requirements include quitting school to accept appropriate employment for your occupation and working the required hours and days. If you’re enrolled in an unemployment insurance program full time, it won’t be necessary to seek work in order to be eligible for unemployment benefits. You have to notify the unemployment insurance program about your school attendance if you’re not available for employment.
